Albania Day

On November 28th, Albania celebrates its declaration of independence in 1912 after centuries of Ottoman rule.  The red flag with its black double-headed eagle was raised in Vlorë as a symbol of sovereignty, pride, and rebirth.  This moment marked the beginning of Albania’s journey toward self-determination and national identity.

For Albanians, Independence Day is historical and deeply emotional.  It honors the generations who preserved their language and culture through centuries of hardship.  Today, as the nation continues to grow and thrive, November 28th serves as a reminder that freedom demands both remembrance and renewal.  This day is a call to unity and pride in Albania’s enduring spirit.
