Cambodia Day

Cambodia celebrates its independence from French colonial rule on November 9th.  Cambodia achieved independence in 1953 through peaceful negotiations led by King Norodom Sihanouk.  This day marks the rebirth of a proud and ancient nation that had endured nearly a century of foreign control yet never lost sight of its identity.  The Independence Monument in Phnom Penh stands tall as a symbol of freedom and the enduring Khmer spirit.

Cambodia’s journey since independence has been one of resilience and renewal.  The nation has faced great trials, from conflict to reconstruction, yet continues to rise.  Cambodia embodies resilience while honoring its cultural heritage and embracing a modern vision of peace and progress.  Independence Day is a moment of national pride, a reminder that freedom is not only won once, but preserved through unity and hope for future generations.
